Please take me out here!
You confine me in the dollhouse!
Please take me out here!

Please take me out here!
Why you keep me in the dollhouse?
Please take me out here!
Please take me out here!
Why you keep me in the dollhouse?
Please take me out here!

Translation

Warped in the mirror
The self* unconsciously disappears
I'm displayed as an impaired ornament
Morals are being eroded

Your smile are my tears
I can never escape this labyrinth
Is this my fate?

Please take me out here!
You confine me in the dollhouse!
Please take me out here!
Destroy the lock of this suffocating world
You confine me in the dollhouse!
Although my glass eyes are sad, they can't cry
The ringing of the bells say that the night is coming

Words from an act in a play
Saturating emotions from the darkness of a theater *
Bursts of pain
Painting the broken me
Paralyzing corruption

Your fingers are my plaster cast
There are no ups, downs, lefts, or rights on this stage
Stalemate?

Please take me out here!
Why you keep me in the dollhouse?
Please take me out here!
Please take me out here!
Why you keep me in the dollhouse?
Please take me out here!
Please take me out here!
This world is choking me
Why you keep me in the dollhouse?
Please take me out here!
Even if I scream, my voice does not come out
Tin's love *
Please take me out here!
Although my glass eyes are sad, they can't cry

NOTE:
* 自我 (jika) - ego self
* 暗転 (anten) - theatrical blackout / taking a turn for the worse
* ブリキ (BURIKI) - tin plate? http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/ブリキ
* カンタレラ (KANTARERA) - cantarella (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cantarella <- not 100% credible ><)

It is, when you become so afraid of believing people, to the point that you can't even see the important things anymore. - RUKI, the GazettE

Lyrics.

Is a literal approach better? Is this phrase applicable to the culture? Do these words reflect the lyricist's thoughts or is it just reflecting my interpretation? I've been bugged by these. I want the translations to be close to the Japanese feel but cultural differences and experiences are an issue. I didn't experience these things, I do not have a complete understanding regarding the theme, and I do not know the what the writers want to convey when they are working on these. Though I badly want to understand and for others to understand them too, I'll probably provide a lame interpretation and destroy the things that these people have worked for. It's similar to localization of manga, isn't it?

I've decided that I will not be posting any more lyrics translation. This will be my on-line backup of the lyrics, in case my 邪人 (my notebook's name) fails, and only I can view them.

Some posts will remain public but this journal will mainly be for my Japanese practice. I don't know if they will be of any use to anyone else and, perhaps, I don't care.

Cheers.

-H.

H: Regarding copyright, I don't want to get into trouble so I'm planning on privatizing all the posts (a.k.a. "members only"). But who will correct/provide ideas for the translations if only I can see them? I don't accept membership... I created this journal (yeah, I know it's supposedly a "community") because I don't want my "projects" mixed with my personal stuff. I'm having OCD attacks lately. Heh.

G: How about moderated membership?
H: I'm too lazy. Too lazy. And not all people have LiveJournal accounts. (Anyway, setting this to moderated membership but the posts will still be public.)

G: Why not create another personal journal instead?
H: I am too lazy to create another one. It's easier to organize things like this. Plus, I can't cheat by doing this. (← I don't want to explain. You know, anyway.) Also, what's the difference? I (badly) want to improve my Japanese so I don't have to wait for translations anymore. Regarding lyrics, I don't want others mislead by faulty lyrics. I mean, sometimes, even sites with JASRAC license have posts like that. (Correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, I'm about to read these articles by JASRAC. I think they're about fees... Ah. WTH. I wish I hadn't read.)
